Helpful vs Unhelpful

Helpful vs Unhelpful

In this blog I will share 5 key aspects around recognising the difference between what can be helpful vs. unhelpful.

So, let’s explore the fascinating journey of how anything in life, whether it’s a thought, feeling, emotion, sensation, action, behaviour, or habit, can transition from being helpful to unhelpful, or even vice versa.

Sometimes, certain aspects of our lives start off as being helpful, providing us with some sort of benefit. That might be from just getting through the day, to a sense of inspiration, growth, and support. But over time, that aspect or ‘thing’ may evolve and change, leading to different outcomes. Similarly, things that may have initially seemed unhelpful or even detrimental can transform into valuable life lessons and be the catalyst for positive change. Let’s dive into this a little more!

Helpful vs Unhelpful: The Shift

Sometimes, what was once helpful, beneficial and uplifting may no longer serve you. Positive thoughts might turn into self-doubt, emotions may become overwhelming, or habits could hinder your progress. I’m here to share with you that this shift is a natural part of our personal growth and a valuable one at that.

Acknowledging these changes allows us to adapt and seek healthier alternatives.  It can also reveal a deeper sense of self and the values you may or may not have been aware of that you may choose to start enacting.

2. Unhelpful to Helpful: The Power of Perspective

Conversely, what may have initially seemed unhelpful can eventually reveal its hidden potential. Challenges and setbacks can teach us valuable lessons, helping us to develop resilience, and to push us further to explore new and helpful pathways.

By reframing our mindset and looking for opportunities, we can transform adversity into steppingstones that help move us towards personal growth.

3. Embracing the Journey of Transformation

Life is in a constant flux, an ebb and flow, filled with endless possibilities for growth and change. When we embrace the process of self-reflection, exploration, and learning we stay open-minded.  Willing to transform aspects we recognise as unhelpful or no longer serving, and welcome new experiences that nourish the soul.

4. Cultivating Self-Awareness

Understanding the shifting dynamics of helpfulness and unhelpfulness requires self-awareness. I invite you to take time to reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and actions and take note of what that process reveals to you.

Listen to your intuition and pay attention to how they impact your well-being and be mindful of how you can make conscious choices that lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

5. The Power of Intentional Choices

Remember, you have the power to reshape your own narrative. Surround yourself with positive influences, engage in habits that promote well-being, and foster relationships that are uplifting to you. Taking small steps towards self-improvement and self-care can create significant positive changes both now and into your future.

Let’s start this transformation together.
